Thanks for sharing these important ideas. Any one of these individual notes could easily be appreciated as a single post. Each one provides ample ground for reflection over time. The one that resonates most with me is Note #3. I will definitely look for Wheeler’s Full Stop now. I am very grateful for your research and truthfulness regarding your own journey. Thanks again.
I appreciate your positive feedback, Andrew. It's good to know this kind of post resonates with you. FYI, you will be happy to hear, if you haven't already found, that you can download Wheeler's Full Stop, along with all of his other books, for free at https://johnwheelernonduality.wordpress.com/books. I recommend starting with his first one, Awakening to the Natural State, which is a modern nondual classic. I believe Full Stop is the last one he wrote before retiring/withdrawing from the public scene.
It sounds like this post came off as I would have hoped. I greatly enjoy short morning readings for contemplation, so I'm happy to hear this one provided that for you. Thanks for letting me know.
All of these notes are quite good. But no. 7 is where I landed and lingered. Favorite line…
“Since it must be coming from Home, could its music lead me there?” 🤍
I read the autumn longing on TTB as well, and commented with a link to an article I read years ago that Lewis’ thoughts on longing reminds me so much of. I thought I’d comment and mention it here too… in case you don’t realize the comment/link is there.
That infinite autumnal longing is so central to everything. Good to hear that you feel it, too, and resonate with writings about it. Btw, I just came from replying to your TTB comment.
Yes, Higg's encyclopedia analogy is dead-on, isn't it? I find it interesting that even though insights like his don't fix the problem, there's something comforting and reaffirming about the mere fact that someone has put their finger on a murky matter and clearly called it out.
And the coincidence? of having read Paul’s letter in our bible group and finding it in your ‘notes’ tonight!!!! . To me God loves clarity! Especially in spirit, life to
Life. And i so agree about the comments on the verbiage of intellectuals:) Aquinas acquired the greater treasure just before his death:) lots of layers to ponder on in these ‘ notes’ . Bliss!!!
I love those kinds of coincidences, where it seems undeniable that a given theme is meant to come clear and occupy our attention right now, since it's coming at us from multiple places. And I'm glad to have accidentally provided one of those for you, Rena.
So glad these notes resonate with you. Maybe this illustrates what I was saying a few months ago in my post "The Writer's Paradox" about the personal being universal. When we dig into what we feel are our most private, personal, idiosyncratic, and authentic interests -- as when I write these reading notes, which are simply the tracks I leave behind me as pursue trails of texts and thought that interest me -- and when we share what we find in that interiority, we discover to our surprise that it speaks vividly to others. Our real connection is not on the surface. It's behind the veil of our outward separation, deep in our core where we share more than we commonly take note of.
Like a lot! World needs this. Pls tell me how to send my $ support w/o credit card.

Good to know Wheeler’s work is available online. Thanks for sharing the link, Matt! I really appreciate it and look forward to checking it out.
Lovely. There’s a lot here that resonates with my own current reading and experiences. I’m considering writing a detailed response to this.
I'm glad the post resonated, Justin. And I would love to read your detailed response, if your muse so moved you to write it.
I enjoyed this and the format of a series of interesting short observations, perfect morning contemplation

Note#1 makes a lot of sense and is kind of a relief to hear it( or see it written down!) . I like the encyclopedia analogy. So true

Oh my gosh! These all are to be read, re-read, pondered and contemplated on , then read again. Absolutely transcending. Thank you
