Roshi Daniel Doen Silberberg does an annual CC teisho. The local, regionally well known UU minister Douglas Tailor also does an annual sermon. I've been a fan since the depths of the 70s and I wholeheartedly agree and endorse this substack!
Loved this, Matt, and hopefully the internet is correct, and John Astin is still with us at 94. Bless his dear, aged heart. Btw, you look about 16 yrs old in that crew photo. 😸
Glad you enjoyed this one! I share your hope that Mr. Astin is indeed still with us. And I know what you mean about my youthful appearance in that photo. I believe I was 24 when it was taken, but when I see it now, I feel like I'm looking at a high school yearbook.
Matt, it was particularly moving for me to read this account as John Astin, the actor, is actually my Uncle John (my Dad's younger brother). I would be very happy to share your beautiful post with him as I think he would be touched to read it.
I’m frankly flabbergasted, John. I had no idea that you and he are family. Yes, I’d be delighted for you to share this with him. Thank you for offering. The memory of that long-ago encounter with him is something I’ve cherished, and it’s moving to think that he might actually read my account of it and find it moving himself.
