Glad you dug it. I know it kind of flew low when it first came out (despite having an amazing A-list cast), and I've been glad to hear that it has become a cult favorite over the years.
Really enjoyed this post, illuminating hidden facets of contemporary media. Much more digestible than stating the viewpoints cold. Warmed up my morning
The extracts are enticing and make me want to watch the whole movies. While I was listening to your songs, especially Daimonica, on which I compliment you, these thoughts presented themselves:
Having been abandoned by the certainties vouchsafed by religious and philosophic traditions, nowadays we are tempted by all mechanisms that will "diminish the contents of our consciousness". But these also tend to solidify the magmatic medium they need to function. A "thawing wind" is sooner or later apt to reactivate long-untapped reserves of enthusiasm.
Since a prison protects as well as it encloses, the current stewards of "reality" and its geolers-inmates can be seen as the old (dead) God's tired religionaries. Outside there's no idyllic nature, but a dazzling light is dawning with Dionysus's deformed and deforming grin bringing a mad reenchantment beyond the devil's expectations.
You consistently fascinate with your dark-lovely-lush take on these things, Gabriele.
Thank you for the good words on "Daimonica," which I spent weeks perfecting, and which felt in the end like the end result had rewarded the effort (which was, as you may imagine, and in keeping with the song's theme, driving me instead of vice versa).
Thank you, Matt. This actually did brighten my day.
Mission accomplished. Thank you for the confirmation. 😊
Came across Mr Frost last year by accident. Fascinating film. Good to see it getting some love.
